The new window display at Gather in the Fountain Square Mall will have you seeing red! For the next month, you can get a close-up look at “Construction in Red" from the 2014 show, designed by Danielle Urschel and Jennifer Deam (modeled by Katherine Thomas, left). Plastic fencing and bits of hardware were used to create this amazing outfit. February 6 - the day of the next Gallery Walk - is National Wear Red Day. The #bloomingtongoesred windows around town are in support of American Heart Association - Go Red for Women - bringing awareness to the fact that “heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women, killing more than all forms of cancer combined. For more than a decade the red dress has been the symbol of women joining together to end heart disease. When you wear the red dress, you are raising your voice to save the lives of women.” Gallery staff will wear red on February 6, and have some literature available. For more information, go to GoRedForWomen.org Thank you, Talia Halliday, owner of Gather :handmade shoppe & Co.

Every year, the Steering Committee meets to brainstorm ways of keeping our Bloomington Trashion community involved in the year-round fun of creating useful garments and accessories. That can mean celebrating our fellow designers, sharing information about the Bloomington Trashion Refashion Runway Show submission process, talking about Discardia Mending Days, or finding ways to share and support the global trashion movement.
We are building a new email list, BUT we need your permission to add you! Please take a moment to add your name and email address by clicking HERE. We're excited about sharing all of the good Trashion news in pretty, easy-to-read email newsletters. Our Facebook page is another great way to stay informed. The Steering Committee strongly encourages everyone to use the Bloomington Trashion Facebook page to share exhibits, personal successes, stories, photos, and ideas with the other designers in our area. Submissions for the 2015 Bloomington Trashion Refashion Runway show are due on March 1st.....that's only a little more than 5 weeks away! Submissions so far are looking fantastic, keep up the great work! We owe a big thanks to Talia at "Gather" for welcoming Bloomington Trashion to kick off our 2015 Call for Entries in this beautiful location! It's our hope that many people were able to enjoy this window display during the annual after-Thanksgiving tradition of lighting the Bloomington Square, but in case you missed it, we have another opportunity for you.
Celebrate the official opening for the 2015 Call for Entries with the Trashion committee and designers on Friday, December 5th from 5-8pm during Gallery Walk at Gather in Fountain Square Mall. We'll have refreshments and plenty to talk about as we look forward to all of our incoming 2015 submissions! The designs featured below, left to right: "Rewind" made from cassette and video tape from Kate Rowold, 'Christmas Swag Spectacle' from Lee Sandweiss, and 'Afghan Couture' from Sheila Ferguson. |
